Training For All

Training

No matter what form your interest in horses takes, The British Horse Society can provide training which will enable you to enjoy a better understanding of the requirements of the horses in your care or which you have contact.

The range of training is enormous. An attempt will be made here, to provide an outline of what is on offer. You are then encouraged to make further enquiries depending on your interest - or indeed offer us alternative suggestions!

BHS Equine-specific First Aid Courses 2006

The British Horse Society in association with Pro - Medical have been running Equine Specific First Aid Courses (ESFAC) for 3 years. These have proven to be extremely popular.

The courses are designed to teach human first aid to those specifically involved in the horse industry. For example, Instructors, Examiners, Grooms, Volunteers, Fence Judges and every day riders.

The ESFAC or The First Aid at Work qualification must be obtained for those wishing to be added to the BHS Register of Instructors.

The BHS currently offer two First Aid Courses:

An Initial two - day ESFAC aimed at candidates who have no previous first aid training, or to those who's previous certificate has expired.

The one - day ESFAC is a refresher to the initial course, which must be taken biennially in order for the certificate to remain valid. Proof of attendance at a previous First Aid at Work or initial ESFAC course will be required.

These courses are organised centrally at Stoneleigh. Current dates in place are available on the main website www.bhs.org.uk
If you would like to attend a course call Karen or Sam in the Training Dept at HQ on 01926 707799 or 01926 707820 or email: training@bhs.org.uk

Two - Day Initial Courses: For those who do not hold a current first aid certificate.
